The Alameda High School Athletic Boosters are sponsoring summer volleyball clinics for elementary and middle-school students in the Alameda area. The clinics will be led by current coaches, alumni, and current AHS players, and will feature 1-on-1 as well as small-group skills development.
At the end of the clinic, students should have a solid foundation of the skills necessary to participate in a volleyball match.
Attendees should come properly attired and need to bring personal water bottles. We recommend kneepads and appropriate athletic shoes.
Each clinic will be limited to 18 participants (minimum 12) to maximize “touches.”
Costs:
$200 (4 sessions)
$375 (8 sessions)
$60 (single session)
Once the clinics have started, no refunds will be issued.
Elementary School Sessions
Each 2-week clinic (4 sessions) will introduce fundamental volleyball skills to elementary school students. The clinic is co-ed, and will focus on drills and game scenarios for instruction.
Students will learn:
- How to pass (bumping)
- How to attack (spiking)
- How to serve
- Court positioning
- Movement
Elementary School Sessions:
- Clinic 1: July 8, 10, 15, 17
- Clinic 2: July 22, 24, 29, 31
Time: 4:30-6:30pm
Location: Patton Gym at Alameda High School, 2200 Central Ave, Alameda, CA 94501
Who: All (co-ed) elementary school students entering 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade
Middle School Sessions
Each 2-week clinic (4 sessions) will be structured for middle-school volleyball players in preparation for the middle-school volleyball season.
All sessions will focus on the skills necessary to play volleyball at the middle school level including:
- Passing (bumping/setting)
- Attacks (spiking)
- Serving
- Court positioning
- Awareness
Middle School Sessions:
- Clinic 1: July 8, 10, 15, 17
- Clinic 2: July 22, 24, 29, 31
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Patton Gym at Alameda High School, 2200 Central Ave, Alameda, CA 94501
Who: All (coed) middle-school students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
