On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, the Alameda High School community lost one of its biggest supporters and the City of Alameda lost a legend..Richard Bullock, Sr.
A lifelong Alameda resident, Rich was a two sport athlete at Alameda High School, lettering in baseball and basketball before graduating in 1956.
After high school, Rich donated his time to Alameda’s youth. He coached Babe Ruth baseball and CYO basketball among other leagues for decades.
In addition to coaching, Rich dedicated himself to the Hornet’s sports program. He was president of the Alameda High Athletic Boosters for five years. He created and ran many fundraising events for Hornet athletic programs throughout those years.
One of Rich’s passions was announcing Hornet sporting events. Throughout the years prior to his passing, Rich announced women’s softball, basketball, and football for the Hornets. It was important to him that the players have their name announced and recognized for their hard work and effort.
Rich leaves behind his wife, Susan, and his children Rich Jr., Mike, Dan, and Lia…all former Hornets. He also has five grandchildren – Gianluca, Emilia, Tiana, Tyler, and Allison, as well as hundreds of friends.
Your donation in his honor will be used as part of the general fund to support all athletics at Alameda High School.
